Do you ever wish time machines existed? Well, today one does and it’ll take you back to the beginning of my December, 2023. Have fun catching up on our Christmas time on Easter Day!
December was a hectic month for us, but Amber and I were happy to host my Aunt Amy and Uncle Jon for a weekend of fun before our big move (more on this in our next few posts). They even managed to squeeze in a trip to Portugal before gracing us with their presence the first weekend of the month. We joked that their visit got us out of the December blues, exploring a few new things we hadn’t yet seen in our area.
Our guests arrived on Friday after we escaped work and we started off with an afternoon tea downtown at Ginger and Pickles. It was a nice time for us to catch up. Later on that evening, after showing them around town, we went for dinner at one of our favorites – Fishpool Inn. Amy and Jon tried some local cask ales as well as some of my old fashioneds back at ours.
Saturday we took a morning walk at Delamere together before the Chester match. Jon had gotten me interested in soccer when I was a kid so it was only fitting for us to go to a local football match together. It was a bit of a windy/sprinkly day, but we enjoyed our view of the pitch and the atmosphere of the fans with their different chants and banter. We warmed up at home with some steaks on the grill that evening.

We continued to pack in the activities on their final full day in town. Started off the morning with a walk through Chester with Brindle and then we took the train into Manchester to see the festive Christmas market. It had lots of booths of food, drinks, and trinkets to explore. It was beginning to feel like the Christmas season even with the lack of snow.
As you can see from all the photos we had a lovely time spent together and Amber and I were glad Amy and Jon traveled so far to visit us. It felt a bit weird knowing we were leaving this town and home we’d gotten so used to. It was great making some final memories there to look back on fondly. Thanks for reading, keep an eye out for Amber’s next posts very soon! Happy Easter!
